A beautiful showcase of Chinese cultural traditions, My Dream is a hypnotic variety show which includes the dazzling Thousand Hands Dance, scenes from popular Peking Opera, Classical Ballet en pointe, and Jazz Music and Latin Dance. My Dream transcends the boundaries of culture, politics, and language to express the creative aspirations of all human beings.
The world-famous Troupe, featuring more than 100 blind and deaf musicians, singers and dancers who performed at the Cultural Festival of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, was established in 1987 as a programme of the China Disabled People’s Association to advance equal opportunity for artists with disabilities. The Troupe was soon touring internationally, and in 2002, with a well-established repertoire and high level of training, the China Disabled People’s Performing Arts Troupe became an independent, professional organization.
My Dream is presented in association with Easter Seals, which, for the past 90 years has played an important role in helping children and youth with physical disabilities. Easter Seals, a registered charity, provides families from each and every community with financial assistance for expensive mobility equipment and communication devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, braces, as well as fully accessible summer camp programs, funding for alternative recreational programs and access to information and resources.
